Bangladesh A in Sri Lanka : Khaled Mashud gets another opportunity to prove his worth

12 March 2007

Former Bangladesh Captain Khaled Mashud who recently lost his place in the national squad has been picked for the Bangladesh A team tour in Sri Lanka. The selectors also picked Sahagir Hossain Pavel who played as wicketkeeper in recently completed series against England A for his impressive batting performance. Current Captain Tushar Imran will lead the side against the second string side of Sri Lanka.

Khaled Mashud requested the selectors not to select him for Englad A series due to personal reasons. Promising fast bowler Talha Jubair who made test debut against South Africa back in 2002 returned to the A team after a long injury break.

Junaed Siddiquee, Marshal Ayub, Mohammad Shahjada, Nasiruddin Faruque and Ziaur Rahman who played in the latest series against England A failed to keep their place in the Sri Lanka bound squad.

National discards left-arm spinner Manzarul Islam Rana and seaming all-rounder farhad Reza were rewarded for their domestic performances and will feature in the one day squad. They will join the team after completion of the unofficial four day test matches.

Bangladesh 'A' will leave Dhaka on March 16. They start their campaign on March 19 with the first unofficial Test at the Colts CC grounds in Colombo where they also play the second unofficial Test from March 25 and the first one-dayer on March 31.
